Museum: School Groups
Welcome to our education programs. Learning adventures at the Museum link directly with Ontario's Ministry of Education curriculum requirements. Our skilled docents like kids, they love history, and their mission is to connect your class to the past in the spirit of discovery and fun.
The Museum offers educational tours on the Welland Canals, Black History, and Community History (a Lacrosse tour is under development). All the tours are 1½ hours, and are based on the curriculum. Field Guides are provided for each basic tour and are available free of charge upon confirmation of your tour with the Museum. To book your tour contact us.
Fees for special educational programs are based upon the length of the program, activities, materials and supplies.
Other educational programs are developed throughout the school year, including a special education program for the Holiday Season. To book a tour, please contact the Booking Secretary at (905) 984-8880 or

It's like getting your own Museum expert in a box! Relax in the comfort of your own classroom, and take the Museum to the school. Our Education kits are guaranteed to liven up your classroom environment and enhance the learning experience of your students.
Education kits are hands-on, object-oriented educational kits, and most importantly, they're fun! They come in a variety of topics based upon the common core curriculum.
The Let's Pretend We're Pioneers Kit and Medieval Life Kit are larger, and contain teacher's notes, student activity cards, resource material, objects/artifacts, and reference material. It provides lesson plans and student activities suitable for full-class (25-30 people) participation.
The smaller Resource Boxes are ideal for small group or independent student inquiry. Or they can be used to highlight specific points of a topic in a full class (25-30 people) setting. They contain teacher's notes, student activity cards, objects/artifacts and resource material.
